Non-Invasive Management of Knee Osteoarthritis
Jason Thorne, BHK
sponsored by Ossur Americas
More than one in every five adult Americans is suffering from arthritis and it is projected that over 45% of the population will be affected by knee osteoarthritis in the future. Surgical options are limited and result in significant lifestyle modifications. Non-invasive treatments have primarily consisted of prescription pharmaceuticals and injections. Research evidence clearly supports the use of Unloader bracing in the management of knee OA, resulting in pain relief, improved function, and reduction in the use of pain medication. This presentation will present the most current scientific research supporting the use of Unloader bracing in the management of knee OA and presenting options for non-invasive combination therapy protocols.

The New AdvaMed Code of Ethics:What Does it Really Mean for OPAs & OTCs
Christine Fiore, Group Director Ethics and Compliance, Smith & Nephew
Are you knowledgeable about the AdvaMed Code of Ethics, which governs the interaction between healthcare professionals and companies providing goods and services to them? If you are in a position to purchase, lease or recommend use of a medical technology product within your practice, you need to be. Items that your vendor representative may have provided in the past including meals, event tickets, gifts and hospitality have all come under increased scrutiny under the Code. What is the representative able to offer? What can you legally accept? This presentation will provide an overview of the AdvaMed Code of Ethics, and will address practical scenarios that OPAs and OTCs may encounter in their day-to-day work lives.
